So, I'm a lifelong head hitter when I'm having a meltdown and the texture of this roller along with it being hard is an amazing sensory distraction for my feet when sitting down to prevent destructive coping mechanisms. It rolls smoothly, on bare feet it's great when things are bad and with socks it's great as a fidget when I'm working at my desk. It's not raised up too high, I'm a very petite person and it's very easy to absent mindedly roll and spin. Other similar products I've used have had too much weight to them and sat too high or too low when seated, so I think this would be suitable for a wide range of ages and abilities.
