ARK’s Grabber® Original Oral Motor Chew – Available in Three Colour-Coded Toughness Levels
ARK's Grabber® is the original oral motor chew tool. Invented by Debra C. Lowsky, MS, CCC-SLP, the P shaped design features a loop that makes it easy to hold, and a long extension that makes it easy to reach the back molars.
Useful features of the Original Smooth Grabber include -
- Use as an oral fidget toy for children who need lots of sensory input
- Becomes a safe alternative to chewing on hands, knuckles, shirts, pencils and siblings etc.
- Can help to manage tooth-grinding and/or thumb-sucking
- Builds oral strength, mobility and control
- Actively exercises the lips, tongue, cheeks and especially the jaw allowing the mouth to learn and grow strong through oral exploration
- Enables children opportunity to practice their biting/chewing skills without the risk of choking
- Also satisfies the urge to chew for individuals who are fed through a g-tube
Technical Information -
ARK's Smooth P Grabber® measures 12cm in length, 5cm across the handle and is 1.3cm thick.
Choosing the correct colour/density option -
Standard - This is the softest level, recommended for mild chewers (those who do not generally chew through anything). It is also suitable for individuals with low oral tone, or those with limited jaw strength who are just learning to bite and chew
Medium XT - This is the middle level, which is called XT ("Xtra Tough"). It's firmer, but still fairly chewy, recommended for moderate chewers
Very Firm XXT - This is the toughest level, which is called XXT ("Xtra Xtra Tough"). It still has some “chewability” to it, but it’s fairly rigid/pretty firm. This level provides the most resistance/feedback to the jaw
Please note -This product is not a toy. Recommended for children 3 years old and upwards. Although these chew tools are sturdy and durable, no chew tool is indestructible. Wear and tear may be expected given the nature of the intended use. While for some people a chew tool will last forever, for others with heavy/aggressive oral needs, they may go through it very quickly. Please supervise at all times, regularly inspect the chew, and replace if necessary if the item starts to show signs of wear and tear

My son is a really aggressive chewer and went through most 'strong' chewies in under 4 days. Then we found these. The XXT has been perfect!
They really do last (we're currently on 1 a month, down from 8-9 in other brands) and are so easy to check for damage and keep safe.
The design is great for him gnawing in the back of the mouth or placing the bit across his front teeth with that P design, so it really suits his different chewing needs too.
Delighted to have found them and they're now a key part of our sensory kit.
