ARK's Krypto-Bite™ Chewable GEM Necklace

This chewable gem necklace provides a safe, wearable, and discreet solution for kids and adults who need to chew. For boys, it's a cool-factor Krypto-Bite™ and for girls, it's a stylish gem pendant!

You can use this chewelry as an oral aid or fidget toy to help calm, soothe and self-regulate thoughts during times of anxiety and stress - the act of chewing on a safe toy can focus minds during homework and other activities. It is particularly favoured by children with Autism, Asperger’s, ADHD or those who need a high level of sensory input.

Technical Information

Each Krypto-Bite™ Gem Pendant measures 3 inches long (7.5cm) and 1/2" (1.3cm) thick. The long length of the chewing area allows it to reach to the back molar teeth where most of the chewing takes place. The breakaway cord is 36 inches (91cm) long but can be shortened by scooting the thread out of the clasp, retying the knot at a shorter length, and then trimming the excess thread. The pendant is available in three colour-coded toughness levels.

A note about choosing the correct colour for your child

Standard - This is the softest level, recommended for mild chewers (those who do not generally chew through anything). It is also suitable for individuals with low oral tone, or those with limited jaw strength

Medium XT - This is the middle level, which is called XT ("Xtra Tough"). It's firmer, but still fairly chewy, recommended for moderate chewers

Very Firm XXT - This is the toughest level, which is called XXT ("Xtra Xtra Tough"). It still has some “chewability” to it, but it’s fairly rigid/pretty firm. No chew tool is indestructible, but this is usually the longest lasting level for avid chewers.

Note - This product is not a toy. The clasp and cord are not intended for chewing. Although these chew tools are sturdy and durable, no chew tool is indestructible. Wear and tear may be expected given the nature of the intended use. While for some people a chew tool will last forever, for others with heavy/aggressive oral needs, they may go through it very quickly. This product contains small parts that may pose a choking hazard - recommended for ages 5 years and upwards. Please supervise at all times, regularly inspect the chew, and replace if necessary if the item starts to show signs of wear and tear.

Newbie review of soft chewy

Needed to redirect a new mild chewing behaviour with 1 child whos anxious with severe sensory difficulties and thought I'd try for another child (5) who sucks her fingers or coat. Chose this brand as they were not made in China and tested for harmful chemicals. Was happy to spend more for this reassurance. Followed guidance and went for soft chews as they dont chew holes in clothing. All is good. My 5yo is obsessed and it comforts her so much, even uses it all day at school. Oldest likes his too, though doesnt need it much but is useful sometimes. They both like using them as fiddle toys as well. Been using a 2-3 weeks and in great condition. Would definitely buy again when the time comes. Would like to have a spare as my daughter keeps losing it (e.g. before bed, or leaves it at grandparents) but its a bit too costly for this all at once. One day though.

I have bought several XT chews for my daughter who has been known to chew through a standard Amazon offering in 2 days flat. The XT has enough give to allow the feedback she's looking for but usually lasts a couple of months before she finally breaks it. The shape is ideal as she likes to chew with her back teeth and she can't get most of the novelty shapes far enough back. They are expensive but worth the investment as cheaper ones just don't last.

My mum has dementia, and chews everything. Quite sizeable holes in her bedding, her clothing, her plastic beakers. Also her fingers. This was suggested to me by someone at the Alzheimer’s Society. I chose the extra-hard chewable gem pendant, and a week or two in, I think this is going to work, though I might come back and choose a different shape that will be easier for her to grasp.

Great for nail biters

Good quality chew

I bought an XT chew for my daughter who is an avid chewer, having previously had the same type for a while before it started to split. It's tough enough to last a decent length of time but also has the give she enjoys when chewing.
