ARK's Bite Saber™ Textured Chew Necklace

ARK's Bite Saber™ Textured Chew Necklace is an oral motor chew tool disguised as a fun piece of jewellery - it's a perfect travel companion for children who need to chew!

Bite Saber™ is ARK's longest pendant shape and features a tactile handle with a smooth 'blade' for biting or chewing. This type of chewelry can be used as an oral fidget toy or as a tool to help calm, soothe and self-regulate a child's thoughts during times of stress. It is a safe alternative to biting fingernails, knuckles and chewing shirts, pencils and pens. It can help to improve focus during homework and classroom tasks. It is particularly favoured by children with Autism, Asperger’s, ADHD or those who need a high level of sensory input.

Technical Information

Each pendant measures about 4" (10cm) long, approximately 5/8" (1.5cm) in diameter at the handle end, tapering down to just under 1/2" (1.2cm) at the laser end.

The long length of the chewing area allows it to reach the back molar teeth where most of the chewing takes place. The breakaway cord is 36 inches (91cm) long but can be shortened by scooting the thread out of the clasp, retying the knot at a shorter length, and then trimming the excess thread. The pendant is available in three colour-coded toughness levels.

A note about choosing the correct colour for your child

Standard - This is the softest level, recommended for mild chewers (those who do not generally chew through anything). It is also suitable for individuals with low oral tone, or those with limited jaw strength

Medium XT - This is the middle level, which is called XT ("Xtra Tough"). It's firmer, but still fairly chewy, recommended for moderate chewers

Very Firm XXT - This is the toughest level, which is called XXT ("Xtra Xtra Tough"). It still has some “chewability” to it, but it’s fairly rigid/pretty firm. No chew tool is indestructible, but this is usually the longest lasting level for avid chewers.

Note - This product is not a toy. The clasp and cord are not intended for chewing. Although these chew tools are sturdy and durable, no chew tool is indestructible. Wear and tear may be expected given the nature of the intended use. While for some people a chew tool will last forever, for others with heavy/aggressive oral needs, they may go through it very quickly. This product contains small parts that may pose a choking hazard - recommended for ages 5 years and upwards. Please supervise at all times, regularly inspect the chew, and replace if necessary if the item starts to show signs of wear and tear.

This chew was brilliant fir my 14 year old granddaughter who has sensory issues. Its a great length for her to chew on her back teeth and has totally stopped her chewing her fingers.

Brought for my 9 year old who has sensory needs that lead her to put things in her mouth and to lick her lips constantly, making them sore.
We particularly liked the different grades of firmness along with the information guide to choosing.
We've tried chewable necklaces before, but she struggled with the idea of standing out. We got her the light saber in her favourite colour, she loves Star Wars. She hasn't felt confident enough to wear it into school yet, but we're getting there. Great for at home, she enjoys chewing it, the different textures give her the feedback she desires/requires and we're not telling her to leave her mouth alone. It's great! We'll come back and recommend to others.

This chewstick is fantastic. My daughter's (aged 7) tooth wasn't coming through. I had a feeling she needed to chew more and this worked!

I got one for my other daughter (aged 9). The two of them chew away happily during evening tablet time. Great for kids that keep putting things in their mouth. Highly recommend.

Plus the medium one seems very strong. For older kids I'd choose medium or higher.

I am a very hard chewer on this but don’t use it much. Mostly before bed and if I’m anxious during the day. Regarding this. It hasn’t ripped and has slight dents with teeth marks but nothing much.
