ARK’s Bite Saber® Chewable Pencil Topper – Available in Three Colour-Coded Toughness Levels

Does chewing on pencils or fingernails sound familiar? ARK's Bite Saber® Chewable Pencil Topper is the perfect solution. This light saber textured design is hollow on one end (to fit over the end of a pencil), and solid on the opposite end for chewing. Pencil toppers also add extra weight to the pencil for increased hand awareness.

You can use this pencil topper as an oral fidget aid to help calm, soothe and self-regulate thoughts during times of anxiety and stress. The act of chewing on a safe chew tool can focus minds during homework and other activities. It is particularly favoured by children with Autism, Asperger’s, ADHD or those who need a high level of sensory input.

Technical Information

Each Bite Saber® Topper measures about 2 1/2” (6.5cm) long and 1/2” (1.2cm) in diameter. Each pencil topper comes with its own pencil, but it can be fitted onto any standard #2 pencil that does not have an eraser on the end. The pencil topper is available in three colour-coded toughness levels

A note about choosing the correct colour

Standard - This is the softest level, recommended for mild chewers (those who do not generally chew through anything). It is also suitable for individuals with low oral tone, or those with limited jaw strength

Medium XT - This is the middle level, which is called XT ("Xtra Tough"). It is firmer, but still fairly chewy and is recommended for moderate chewers

Very Firm XXT - This is the toughest level, which is called XXT ("Xtra Xtra Tough"). It still has some “chewability” to it, but it is fairly rigid/pretty firm. No chew tool is indestructible, but this is usually the longest lasting level for avid chewers.

Note - This product is not a toy. This product contains small parts that may pose a choking hazard - recommended for ages 6-7 years and upwards. Although these chew tools are sturdy and durable, no chew tool is indestructible. Wear and tear may be expected given the nature of the intended use. While for some people a chew tool will last forever, for others with heavy/aggressive oral needs, they may go through it very quickly. Please supervise at all times, regularly inspect the chew, and replace if necessary if the item starts to show signs of wear and tear.

I didn't want to leave a rating this, as child didn't take it out of packaging. Just feeling through plastic, it was too firm. Returned and will try another density.

Strong and fairly discreet chew

I am an adult and bought this for myself to try as i was looking for a discreet chew to help me with anxiety and over eating. I went for hot pink (I know, that doesn't sound very discreet!) which is the middle of the strength options, and I find it to be satisfying to chew and not too obvious to have on my desk. It has proved to be strong - I've not managed to create any obvious teeth marks in it. I will also be trying something smaller as, if I chew on this with my back teeth it can get quite drooly (sorry if that's TMI). I wouldn't use this if co-workers were close by, but it is helpful. As an ex-smoker, ex-pencil/pen chewer and (mostly) ex-teeth grinder, having a few things available that are made for the purpose and that can be easily cleaned is a far more pleasant option.
