ARK’s Write-n-Bite® Chewable Pen Topper – Available in Three Colour-Coded Toughness Levels

Does chewing on pens, pencils or fingernails sound familiar? ARK's Write-n-Bite® Chewable Pen Topper is the perfect solution. It has a discreet, smooth cylindrical design that is hollow on one end (to fit over the end of a pen), and solid on the opposite end for chewing. The topper also adds extra weight to the pen for increased hand awareness. The neutral colours of this design are ideal for older children and adults to use at school, college or in the office.

You can use this pen topper as an oral fidget aid to help calm, soothe and self-regulate thoughts during times of anxiety and stress. The act of chewing on a safe chew tool can focus minds during homework and other activities. It is particularly favoured by children and adults with Autism, Asperger’s, ADHD or those who need a high level of sensory input.

Technical Information

Each Write-n-Bite® Chewable Pen Topper measures about 2 1/4” (6cm) long and 3/8” (1cm) in diameter. Each pen topper comes with its own black ink pen, but it can also be fitted onto any standard #2 pencil that does not have an eraser on the end. The pen topper is available in three colour-coded toughness levels

A note about choosing the correct colour

Light Grey - Standard - This is the softest level, recommended for mild chewers (those who do not generally chew through anything). It is also suitable for individuals with low oral tone, or those with limited jaw strength

Black - Medium XT - This is the middle level, which is called XT ("Xtra Tough"). It is firmer, but still fairly chewy and is recommended for moderate chewers

Dark Grey - Very Firm XXT - This is the toughest level, which is called XXT ("Xtra Xtra Tough"). It still has some “chewability” to it, but it is fairly rigid/pretty firm. No chew tool is indestructible, but this is usually the longest lasting level for avid chewers.

Please note - we do not recommend using the chewable pen topper as a cap to cover the ink end of the pen. Please keep it on the solid back end of the pen away from the ink, as ink should not be near the mouth.

Note - This product is not a toy. This product contains small parts that may pose a choking hazard - recommended for ages 11 years and upwards. Although these chew tools are sturdy and durable, no chew tool is indestructible. Wear and tear may be expected given the nature of the intended use. While for some people a chew tool will last forever, for others with heavy/aggressive oral needs, they may go through it very quickly. Please supervise at all times, regularly inspect the chew, and replace if necessary if the item starts to show signs of wear and tear.
